      That day, September 22, in 1862

      President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation during the American Civil War.

      • The 100-Day Warning: Gave the seceded states roughly three months (or 100 days) to lay down arms before a final decree would take effect.
      • War Measure: Justified by Lincoln under his constitutional authority as Commander-in-Chief as a military necessity to weaken the Confederacy.
      • Shift in War Aims: Transformed the American Civil War from a mere struggle to restore the Union into a direct battle to abolish slavery.
      • Scope: Applied only to rebellious states, leaving slavery temporarily untouched in loyal border states, and paved the way for the recruitment of Black soldiers into the Union military. When the Confederacy ignored the warning, the final Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1, 1863.

    A 47-page briefing package sent to Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith last month sets out options for changing the Official Information Act, including tougher withholding grounds, restrictions on frequent requesters, new fee-recovery mechanisms and a narrower definition of what counts as “official information”.

    This longform article itemises the various techbro philosophies that sprung up in Silicon Valley, and describes their fusion into the "Dark Enlightenment" and transfer into political action. This is not just a theoretical analysis, it describes the strands of thought (eugenicist, elitist, anti-democratic) that have had real-world consequences in US politics.

    The broligarchy is even now funding both political campaigns in the 2024 midterm elections, and influencing politicians on both sides. For example, OpenAi just employed the daughter of the Democratic House Leader to open doors for them. Bernie Sanders has even been sucked into public endorsement.
